Get Lost with the Dope Posse

Hey guys, thanks for taking the time to answer these questions for us.

No problem! What's up Get In Magazine, thank YOU for showin an interest in the LDP. This is Josh, aka O.D. from LDP answering your questions.

What is the meaning behind the name, how did you decide on LDP?

Lost Dope Posse is what it used to stand for, but having lost some of the original Dope Posse, LDP seemed to fit, now its whatever comes to mind. We have sooo many names.....

What influenced the creation of LDP?

Liquor, Drugs and P****, not to mention music, lol.

The influenece of hardcore, comedy, X-rated, underground sound ....we are not some mainstream band...we are definitely hardcore and will always stay that way. We also felt the need for the scene to have a band that wasn't like all the rest, something off the beaten path. We wanted to bring back some of the old skool feel mixed with new to the music scene. Also (to) incorporate the element of 3 mc's/vocalist. DIFFERENT! If people don't like us, we can accept that, but we always write songs that are about our past and present, and we shoot straight, we don't pull any punches!!!

How was LDP created, what made insane ideas come to reality?

Back in the day (early 90's), there was a band called E.P.O.D. They were a punk metal band that helped create a music scene in West Pasco (County, FL). Around the same time, a band called Lost Cause Pasco Punx was formed, and together these guys tore down some house/garage parties. When the guys decided to take it to the next level, many of the players could not hang. Eventually, the serious members from both bands merged to form the band LOST DOPE.

By the middle of 1999, Lost Dope had become a staple of the West Pasco scene. Without support from the local radio, LD pushed on. Lost Dope made many fans and friends in their run, 1996-2001. Members of the band went on to form NIAESEVIN and FABLE.

In 2003, Bourbon Street Nightclub owner GREG SERIO, got the band (LOST DOPE) back together for a show to cellebrate the sucsess of Bourbon Street . After seeing how many people still loved LD, the band decided that a couple of shows a year won't hurt. A couple years later, and James Dean (LD bass player) retired on stage at the last show. That is not the end. During the late NIAESEVIN daze, members (Julius-Eric-Jeremy) formed a side project called "the Mr.E mAcHiNe". It was short lived but the idea stuck. Live drums, DJ, and 3 MC's. When an opportunity to open for a signed National Act came up , the minds (Julius-O.D.-Deals-Jeremy-TheLongshot) came up with the Posse. Not just any posse... the LOST DOPE POSSE. Now with a couple of the original minds gone, moving on with other ideas (Julius-Jeremy), the band has created a whole new beast, a super hybrid. 3 MC's /vocalist, a guitarist, bassist, and drummer.

Opening for Jimmies Chicken Shack this weekend, how did you prepare for the show? Anything special?

Well this has been a rough month for the band with our drummer just having surgery, so we had to find a replacement for the show. Julius, our original Lost Dope Posse drummer offered to help the LDP out in (a) time of need. We couldn't have asked for a better person to fill in for Mark. Julius is a very polished drummer. It only took two practices and he was ready for the show. All the rest of us, pretty much same ole rituals. Fat doobs, cold beers, PS2, bustin' jokes on each other while hangin' at the infamous LDP clubhouse/studio. Also workin' on music and havin' fun, that's what we do!

Thanks for taking some time out for us. Any final comments, anything you want to tell your fans?

Keep it real SON!!! We love all our diehard fans that have followed us through out the past year. Also all the diehard lost dope , lost dope posse, Niaesevin, (and) EPOD  fans that have supported us throughout the many, many years we have been around the Tampa music scene. You are what we do this for! You are what drive us to keep going and bring you more music and FUN times.
